Notes & Combos
A fairly cookie-cutter Mikanko deck but it is by far my favorite archetype in Yugioh I have ever played. (I am generally a ritual deck fan but that's besides the point). Some tips to note about this deck include:
- Mikanko deck is one of the VERY few decks that genuinely loves going second, which is incredible when you consider the fact that you don't need to feel frustrated about losing a coin toss.
- Going second is this deck's strong suit but if you open with no tribute monsters or arabasque spell card then this deck might struggle a little.
- I have found that the two bystials are very useful in going second in case you opened with no Mikanko. Arabasque fodder + Cyberse counter + free body on the field is very nice.
- Extra deck monsters are almost all useless except for the fur hire monster which has won me maybe 1 or 2 games in total.
- Double-edge sword can create fun OTK shinanigans sometimes but requires specific cards in your opening hand.
- No staples like ash, max c, veiler, called by, etc. due to Mikanko generally doesn't care about any of those cards as along as you are playing the deck correctly. Maxx C specifically does not win me games when I tried it out for a few times.
- No Ni-Ni because she is not good when going second AT ALL, you don't need to worry about bricking with Mikanko most of the time so she is not needed.
- Here are my experience with some of the meta decks with this Mikanko deck:
- Purrly: Not an issue whatsoever given that you started with Lava golem, Kaiju, and/or Nibiru(don't use this until the very last moment of their turn or their quick-play spells will make you regret everything).
- Cyberse: Almost always an auto loss but the bystials can help. Pray?
- Branded: Did not see it for a single time from Gold all the way from gold to master so IDK what's going on(Maybe limiting branded fusion was an over kill huh Konami).
- Swordsoul: Auto win if you have any disruption.
- Mikanko Mirror: Less patient player always lose, more miserable to play than Ishisu Tear mirror at their prime.
- Labrynth: One time Kagura ritual summon card will shine.
- Dragon Link: Nothing is more satisfying than waiting 5 mins for them to finish their bored and then OTK them with Kaiju and Golem, should be an easy win most of the time.
- Floo: You lost.
Conclusion: Absolutely fun and powerful deck that disrepects you opponent's end board with simple monsters and attack unga-bunga.
